Music Therapy Social Skills Group

Join us for a Music Therapy Social Skills Group! Groups are comprised of smiliar age peers, and limited to 5 kids. Through a variety of interactive musical play events, we will practice:

Adapted Music Lessons

What are Adapted Music Lessons?
Adapted music lessons are for individuals with developmental disabilities who show an interest in music lessons but are unable to benefit from traditional music lessons. Board Certified Music Therapists (MT-BC’s) will adapt instructional methods based on individuals’ strengths, learning style, and specific needs. Individuals will have the opportunities to explore creativity and to develop confidence through music making experience.

Adapted lessons will use the following approaches:

Breaking instruction in smaller steps, creating obtainable goals for child’s needs

Developing basic musicianship through exercises such as learning rhythmic patterns through movement and drumming

Learning interactively through instrument play, singing, and movement events

Use color-coded notation

Focus on child’s p referred songs and types of music

Encouragement of creative expression via improvisation and composition

Pacing the lesson to maintain attention through a variety of engaging music events

Our therapists can provide instruction on the following:

Basic musicianship

Piano

Voice

Violin

Clarinet
